Just Talk To Me Pre Production, Production and Post Production.

Preproduction. We prepared a short presentation including our roles shots, lighting etc. We created a storyboard showing pictures of a rough idea which is going to happen and the lighting. We also picked our roles for instance I picked sound, Acting and first assistant director, did some research on our roles. We also had virus of other sheets to fill out for instance Cast list, Shot list and risk assessment, these are some examples. Lastly or last thing we id to prepare was a test shoot which I would say what I would on the actually shoot and got lots of feedback.

Production. In the production we did my recordings first in the studio room with the two chairs and the mic. We had to rerecord a couple or times because I messed up or it wasn't up to standard. One thing we could of improved on would be using a mic instead of using the camera for audio. Moving onto Scott's recordings, I held the mic and Ethan was the cameraman however he held the sound recorder so that he could start recording both at the same time so it's easier to syncronise the audio with the visual. We recorded Scotts part in a dark room downstairs mainly because it was dark. There was a point while recording my part that I couldn't pronounce a word "infidelity" so we recorded the line just before it then filmed me saying it separately and carried on.

Post Production. In the post preduction we created a short title sequence using After Effects. My animation is a creepy road with the camera racing straight down at while it moves. I added long white rectangles to represent the stripes on the middle of roads. It shows the casts names as its shows the road. Before I made the road I made the bomb which was based of a Grad theft auto bomb because I didn't know how to make one. Later on I added a timer that counts down from 10 seconds which a beeping sound however it wasn't synchronised with the timer which is one of my improvement however it would have been hard to do.
Just Talk To Me editing. Firstly I put all the clips in the right order then I tried to synchronise the audio from the camera and mic to realise when its at the right point as it would sound exactally the same, then I muted the camera audio. I used various of fade effects. I also changed the colour to black and white to suit the genre (more dark and scary) and changed the audio so Scott sounds more distorted which makes him sound more scary. However it wouldn't upload it got stuck at 55% because i added an effect to change the colour to a darker colour, to fix this John helped me and to fixed it he deleted the effect and copied it from another clip.

Title Sequence Final

MindMap and Storyboard Title Sequence

Title Sequence Evaluation

What Went Well? (what aspects of your title sequence project went well?) 100 Words

I learnt new techniques while creating the animation such as making a road, changing colours using key frames and animating text. What also went well was my animation fitting the genre quite well as the road may not have anything to do with just talk to me it still sets the mood for the genre. I also thought that the sound went well as it was exactly what I was looking for, an eerie, creepy and sad background track. I also thought my editing and animation skills went well because almost everything I wanted to do I was able to do and I had a plan of what I wanted it to look like to start off with and it turned out pretty much how I thought.

What could be improved? (What would you do differently if you were to do this project again?) 100 words

I think my bomb could look a little better however I was mainly focusing on the road and text rather than the bomb. I would have tried to make the bomb look 3D if I had enough time. My founders could be improved in After effects because they were all messy and hard and confusing to find. If I did this project again I would have made the road turn so it looks more realistic and less boring because you’re staring at the same thing for about 15 seconds. I would have also tried to mess around and try out more text animation.

How does your title sequence compare to its original intentions? 100 words

My first intentions were very different. To start off with my idea was that the animation would fly in space and time like Star Wars however that didn’t follow the genre very well. There were a couple of things I would have added but would have been hard. The only things I really kept to the original intentions were the bomb general layout and the background stayed black. The music I used was exactly that sort of music I wanted to use.

Job Role Evaluation

My Primary job role was a sound engineer and my secondary role was the first assistant director and acting. As a sound engineer you basically hold the microphone in front of the actor talking with whilst wearing a good pair of headphones listening to the sound incase it messes up,you are required to have good hearing for this role. You need to be a good team player because the whole team relies on you for good sound so you don't have to work again which is one of my positives while doing this role because al the sound was good and high quality. Another positive with me being a sound engineer is that I was good with holding the microphone in the same place through the whole recording so it doesn't sound closer or far away.

My influence is Randy Thom who is a particularly good sound engineer who have worked on some famous movies such as Star Wars VI, Indiana Jones Temple Of Doom and Harry Potter. And I aimed to get a good quality finish like he does. This is important on set so you have can top quality sound for the movie they are recording. Becoming a sound engineer requires a post secondary diploma or degree however it can be hard to find work.

My secondary role was acting. The requirements of this job role is to be good at listening to feedback from your team and improving. This job role also requires a good and positive attitude. I found this job role very easy because my group were giving me lots of feedback. I also found this job role hard because there was a word that I found hard to pronounce "Infedelity" also another negative is that i had to look at the script often because I did not know my lines.

My influence is Elijah Wood because he's from my most favourite film (Lord Of The Rings) He influenced me because he's a very good actor because of how believable he is on lord of the rings and you can really fee this character. Become an actor is very hard because it's a popular role people want to be however it requires you to do theatre. This is an important role on set because without an actor there would be on film, it's also important because when you mention films sometimes you see the actors faces in you're head. My point is the actors make you like the film.

Just Talk To Me Presentation

Question 1: I didn't like the script that much. I didn't think that it was very exciting. Sometimes the script sounds a bit cheesy and not real. i think it's a good idea that they were saying "just talk to me" though.

Question 2: My job role is the sound engineer and the first assistant director. As the sound engineer i record the audio and play back the audio to make sure that the audio is good quality. The sound engineer also has to do talkback communication for the actors and works with a wide range of multimedia shots. This role requires good hearing.
As a first assistant director I take important jobs roles of the director so he can think of the creative process instead. I also work with the director on shots and with regular process reports about the shots. I'm also responsible for health and safety on set. One of the most important roles of the first assistant director is that if the Director doesn't turn up I will become the Director for his absence until he;s in.

Question 3: The scene will be dark maybe very hard to see as you look away from the character . There will be a dim light above the character.

Trailer for radio podcast Pokemon Go

For this task we firstly did research which involved a bar chart and I asked the class to fill it out. Then we wrote mind maps about certain research abut Pokemon go that would help us with the podcast. Then we wrote a script, ask 3 people to say lines in the podcast trailer. After that we edited it to make exactly 30 seconds and edited the audio as well I added a Pokemon Go soundtrack and faded in/out the soundtrack.

This is important because if you save it on someones else's memory stick or something they might not bring in it. If you do this you might not be able to do you're work or have to start over because you are unable to work.

The genre action appeals to its target audience because there are a lot of fighting scenes and death. These films contain explosions, plot lines, motives sad ending and these are things people expect to see. A lot of action films tend to have a psychopath, evil villain who is some what likeable for being badass and attracts the target audience 16 year olds.

I identified my audience using the questionnaire survey, collating the results and producing the graphs which are shown earlier on the blog.

Title Sequences

A title sequence is the beginning and the end of a movie where they show the credits with a short animation, live action, still images and music. They use it to present their title of the film, key production and cast members. for instance actors or director. Certain colours are used to present the mood of the film for instance a horror would be dark and gloomy whilst a children's film would be bright. Certain fonts are used to show what type of film it is for instance super hero fonts are usually big and bold. Fonts are also used to show how old the film is like in medieval for instance Lord Of The Rings. The sequence makes you feel excited to watch the film because it draws you're attention and shows the quality of the film. I like it because sometimes they use unique music, animation such as Dead Pool which really gives you the chills. The weaknesses are that a lot of films have the same style where characters are paused and the camera moves around them. Their good because they attach your attention it uses good music.
